IPL 2021: I don’t have pace, swing, seam but I use my brain to get the job done – Kieron Pollard

Mumbai Indians talisman all-rounder Kieron Pollard admitted he doesn’t have pace, swing, seam but he uses his brain to get the job done for his team.

Pollard bowled a solitary over for Mumbai Indians in their Tuesday clash against Punjab Kings at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi in which he delivered the goods.

The medium-pacer accounted for KL Rahul and Chris Gayle and picked PBKS’ two crucial wickets, which tilted the match in his team’s favor. Rahul’s wicket was the 300th scalp for Pollard as he completed his personal milestone.

Furthermore, Pollard added the finishing touches for the team as he smashed 7-ball 15 and supported Hardik Pandya to take his team over the line. Thus, the all-rounder was awarded the Player of the match.

Pollard is hopeful that this win will give confidence to the players to turn the tables in the remaining season. MI have their work cut out as they have managed five wins from 11 matches they have played. The defending champions didn’t have a good start to the second phase of the league as they lost the first three matches.

Pollard said while talking in the post-match presentation, “Very important to get my 300th wicket. I know what I can do in all the facets of the game. I will be more than happy to do what the team needs of me. You try and watch and target whom you can target and not. I enjoyed my 300th wicket which was KL and obviously it’s a landmark and very special. For me, it’s just of trying to practice and it’s all about practing and batting according to the situation. I admit that I don’t have pace, swing and seam but I can use my brain and get the job done. For us it’s very important to get these 2 points and hopefully this will be the much-needed spark in the dressing room”.

Pollard has always been instrumental in the success of Mumbai Indians and he has always delivered with the ball as well as the bat. The West Indian all-rounder has all the experience under his belt and he is one of the best T20 players in the world.

MI will look to continue the winning momentum and they will take a lot of confidence after this win against PBKS. Mumbai Indians will next face Delhi Capitals on Saturday at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
