Royal Challengers Bangalore’s all-rounder Glenn Maxwell said he has felt good since joining the franchise for IPL 2021.
Maxwell, who had failed to live up to the huge expectations in the previous seasons of the IPL, was finally able to grab his chances for the Virat Kohli-led team.
The Australian scored his fourth fifty of the ongoing season against Rajasthan Royals at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday as he continued his rich form in the tournament. Maxwell scored an unbeaten knock of 50 runs off just 30 balls to help his team get over the line in the run-chase of 150 runs.
This was Maxwell’s second fifty on the trot as he has batted at his absolute best. The right-handed batter has scored 350 runs in 10 innings at an impressive average of 38.88 and a whirlwind strike rate of 141.70 in the ongoing edition.
Maxwell has been given the specific role of batting at no.4 by the team’s think tank and he has been able to prove his mettle. The Australian has been successful in finishing the games for the team and has played an instrumental role in the success of the team.
“I have felt good since coming here, got myself into a nice routine at training and outside of training as well, I just feel like it is really clicking for me. Nice to perform in the middle, adapting to the situations in front of me.
“I don’t think it’s too different from any other franchise. It’s just what we have created as a group. It is nice to have a bunch of guys doing different things and not relying on one certain player. Everyone is chipping in, and it has been a really enjoyable group so far,” said Glenn Maxwell after his match-winning efforts against RR.
Meanwhile, RCB was able to register their seventh of the season when they won against RR. Rajasthan had got off to a rollicking as they were 100-1 after 11 overs but soon slipped to 127-6 after a fine bowling show from RCB. Maxwell also revealed that it is not an experiment to play KS Bharat at number three.
“I thought we played really well. RR got off to an absolute flyer, and to bring them back in the last 10 overs was outstanding, then we controlled the tempo of the innings and finished it off.
“I wouldn’t call it an experiment (when asked about the experiment with KS Bharat at no.3); he’s a genuine top-class batter, and the way he has gone about his innings is outstanding.”
RCB will next face Punjab Kings on 3rd October at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
