Mumbai Indians talisman all-rounder Kieron Pollard reflected on the team’s poor campaign in the recently concluded Tata Indian Premier League 2022.
MI finished as the cellar-dwellers of the tournament after they could only manage four wins in 14 matches. The five-time champions could not come up with collective efforts and it led to their downfall.
Furthermore, their big players like Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, and Jasprit Bumrah didn’t have the best of seasons as per their lofty standards. Kieron Pollard, who announced his International retirement recently, scored only 144 runs in 11 matches at an average of 14.40 and a strike rate of 107.46.
Ergo, Pollard failed to provide the finishing touches to MI’s innings and he was not anywhere near his best.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians lost their opening eight matches of the season and it was always going to be impossible for them to bounce back from that situation.
Kieron Pollard wrote on his Instagram post: “As I walk and look back at a disappointing season for us as a team and myself as an individual, we know deep down how much it has hurt but it didn’t derail the spirit, determination and hard work that was put in by every single person. We definitely learned a lot from this 2022 season.”
“Does that define us as a team or individuals, hell no? We march on with our heads still held high knowing we have life and the opportunity to change things around. @mumbaiindians and fans we move on say bye 2022 season.”
Pollard also congratulated his former Mumbai Indians teammate Hardik Pandya, who led Gujarat Titans to glory in their debut season of the IPL.
“Congrats @hardikpandya93 and @gujarat_titans well done well played.”
Kieron Pollard and Mumbai Indians will look to bounce back stronger in the next season.
