IPL 2020: Irfan Pathan selects his IPL XI, picks Kieron Pollard as captain

Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has selected his IPL XI, in which he picked Kieron Pollard as the captain. Pollard led Mumbai Indians in four matches in the absence of full-time skipper Rohit Sharma. Pathan picked Kings XI Punjab skipper KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan as the two openers.

Rahul scored 670 runs in 14 matches for KXIP and he finished as the highest run-getter of the season to bag the Orange Cap. Dhawan was the second highest run-getter as he has scored 618 runs in 17 matches at an average of 44.14 and a strike rate of 144.73.

At number three, Pathan selected MI’s Suryakumar Yadav, who has scored 480 runs in 15 innings at an average of 40 and strike rate of 145.03. The former all-rounder picked AB de Villiers to bat at number four. AB scored 454 runs in 14 innings at an average of 45.40 and strike rate of 158.74.

Kieron Pollard bats at number five for Irfan Pathan. Pollard smashed 268 runs in 12 innings at an average of 53.60 and strike rate of 191.42. Marcus Stoinis who did a fine job for DC bats at number six. The Australian all-rounder scored 352 runs and scalped 13 wickets in the tournament.

Rajasthan Royals’ star Rahul Tewatia bats at number seven for Irfan Pathan. Tewatia played two match winning knocks against Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad and scored 255 runs in 11 innings at an average of 42.50.

Yuzvendra Chahal is the main spinner of the team and leg-spinner snared 21 wickets in 15 matches for RCB. Mohammed Shami, Kagiso Rabada and Jasprit Bumrah constitute the pace battery of the team. Shami claimed 20 wickets in 14 matches for KXIP. Rabada bagged the Purple cap as he has scalped 30 wickets in 17 matches whereas Bumrah snared 27 wickets in 15 matches.
