Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra believes Royal Challengers Bangalore should play Australia’s left-arm seamer Daniel Sams in place of all-rounder Dan Christian in their sixth match against Delhi Capitals, which will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
Dan Christian hasn’t been able to deliver the goods for the team so far and Chopra believes it will make sense if he is replaced by Daniel Sams, who has recovered from Covid-19.
“The RCB batting is not weak but a little short. They are playing Washington at No.3 only to lengthen the batting. Otherwise, Devdutt, Virat, Maxwell and AB – there is no one at No.5. Washington or Dan Christian will have to play at No.5 and I don’t think RCB should play Dan Christian at all. They should think about playing Daniel Sams instead of Christian,” said Chopra on his YouTube Channel.
On the other hand, Chopra feels RCB must make a place for Rajat Patidar, who hasn’t grabbed his chances as he has scored only nine runs in the two matches he has played.
“They should create a place for Rajat Patidar in this team. So Rajat Patidar after Padikkal and Kohli, then Maxwell and AB, at No.6 you have Washington Sundar, at No.7 you have Kyle Jamieson, Daniel Sams at No.8,” said Chopra.
Chopra added that Yuzvendra Chahal, Harshal Patel and Mohammed Siraj will complete his playing XI for RCB and Navdeep Saini, who was expensive in the last match against CSK will need to miss out on the final XI. Saini had conceded 27 runs in the two overs he bowled.
“Now three are left, so one Yuzi Chahal and you can play two Indian fast bowlers – Siraj and Harshal Patel. That makes it your XI. Sorry Saini, you may have to miss out,” signed off Chopra.
RCB have won four out of the five matches they have played and they will look to continue their good show against Delhi Capitals. RCB had a rare off day against CSK and they will aim to bounce back stronger.
The Virat Kohli-led team has come up with a collective team effort so far and they will aim to keep the same momentum.
