IPL 2024: We need to keep the process right – Sanju Samson after win against Lucknow Super Giants

Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson said they need to keep the process right after their convincing seven-wicket win against Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Saturday. This was the Royals’ seventh win of the season as they continued their rich form.

The visitors were able to restrict the hosts to a slightly under-par score of 196 runs after winning the toss. RR was able to strike twice as they dismissed Quinton de Kock and Marcus Stoinis cheaply to leave LSG at 11-2.

Subsequently, KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda were able to add a fine alliance of 115 runs with the former scoring 76 and the latter adding 50. But LSG could not add the finishing touches as they managed only 36 runs in the last five overs.

On the other hand, RR found themselves in a spot of bother at 78-3 after 8.4 overs. However, Sanju Samson continued to lead from the front as he scored 71 runs off just 33 balls whereas Dhruv Jurel got back into form as he scored 52 off 34 balls.

RR has been collectively ticking the right boxes and they were able to continue the good show against LSG. Samson was awarded Player of the Match for his fine knock.

Samson said in the post-match presentation, “I am very lucky to be behind the wickets. There was some purchase with the new ball and then was a good wicket to bat on. The guys who came in and bowl one over in the power-play do an important job. There has been a lot of planning behind the scenes. The start and the end of the innings were good. We gave away a few in the middle overs. The form is temporary in this format.”

He added, “We have seen Jurel in Tests. We believe in him. He has been batting one hour and two hours at times in the nets. We have been doing really well. We have been a little lucky as well. We need to keep the process right. At the team meetings, we talk about ticking the processes. One game at a time for us.”

Rajasthan Royals will next take on Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Thursday.
