India’s veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has lauded gun fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Ashwin said Bumrah is a once-in-a-generation bowler and he is currently the most valuable Indian cricketer, even ahead of the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Bumrah has impressed one and all with his skillsets and he has continuously breathed down the neck of the opposition batters with his lethal pace and accuracy.
Bumrah has performed consistently in all three formats of the game and he has been India’s pack leader. The ace pacer bagged 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 and an economy rate of 4.17 in the eight matches of the T20I showpiece and thus played a key role in the team’s success.
Bumrah’s biggest strength is his adaptability to any pitch and he reads every track like an expert. The fast bowler is equally lethal at both ends of the innings and he has consistently delivered for the team.
Speaking to journalist Vimal Kumar on his YouTube channel, Ashwin said, “India has always been the country that is a batsman-dominated country, and it’s never going to change. But I am so glad and happy that we are celebrating Jasprit Bumrah. Jasprit Bumrah is a once-in-a-generation bowler. We should celebrate him even more.”
He added, “We Chennai people appreciate bowlers a lot. He was here for an event as a chief guest 4-5 days ago. We gave him a Rajni treatment. We (Chennai people) treat bowlers very nicely. He should be treated as a champion. I don’t want to name, but Jasprit Bumrah is the most valuable Indian cricketer right now.”
Meanwhile, Bumrah has been named in the first Test against Bangladesh and he will return to action after the T20 World Cup. The opening Test match between India and Bangladesh will be played in Chennai from September 19.
