Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma has put his weight behind his pupil to play at the top level for another four years. After Kohli could only score 190 runs in five Test matches against Australia at an average of 23.75, there were questions raised about his Test future.
The right-hander was also dismissed after scoring only six runs in the Ranji Trophy against the Railways. Subsequently, he returned with scores of five, 52 and 22 in the next three ODIs.
However, Kohli looked at his absolute best in the Champions Trophy clash against Pakistan as he scored an unbeaten 100 off 111 balls at Dubai in the run-chase of 242. Kohli struck only seven fours in his match-winning knock and once again showed his fitness by running hard between the wickets.
Speaking to Cric Blogger, Rajkumar Sharma said, “Virat will play at least four years of international cricket if not more and could play many more years in IPL if he wants to.”
Sharma added he feels proud of what Kohli has achieved in his glorious career as he has achieved almost everything in the record books.
“He is the one who gave me the tickets. I am staying in his hotel. He knows that I am sitting there. You feel proud of such a child. If you are his coach, then there is nothing more proud than this.”
Kohli’s century against Pakistan was the 82nd of his International career. The talisman also became the fastest to reach the milestone of 14000 ODI runs as he got there in 287 innings, breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 350 innings.
