Bengaluru FC have signed midfielder Rohit Kumar on the two year contract. Kumar will stay at the club till the end of ISL season 2022-23. Thus, Kumar has become Bengaluru’s first signing of the summer and he will join the club ahead of the AFC Cup match against Eagles FC.
Kumar joined DSK Shivajians academy in 2016 and moved to the club’s senior team in the same year for the Durand Cup. The 24-year old had a dream start to his career as he scored his maiden goal after playing for only nine minutes. Subsequently, he found the back of the net on three occasions in the next two matches.
Rohit is excited to join hands with the Blues and he is looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead of him in the ISL. The midfielder made his I-league debut in 2016 and then made a move to ISL club FC Pune City at the end of the season.
“I am very excited about signing with Bengaluru FC and about the challenges that lie ahead. This is a club that most footballers in the country want to be a part of, so to get this opportunity is special. I’m looking forward to experiencing all the good things I’ve heard about BFC, and I’m eager to play my part in achieving success with this team and for the fans,” said Kumar after completing the formalities on his deal.
After playing for FC Pune City for two seasons, Rohit went on to play for Hyderabad FC for one edition and then went to play for Kerala Blasters as he made a total of 30 appearances in the tournament.
Bengaluru FC head coach Marco Pezzaiuolli welcomed Rohit into the club.
“I would like to welcome Rohit to Bengaluru FC. He is a young and hardworking footballer who I believe will play his part in our season that begins shortly. As a coach, I am happy to have him at the club, and I wish him all the success,” said Blues head coach Marco Pezzaiuoli.
