Kerala Blasters have roped in the services of Croatian defender Marko Leskovic before the eighth season of the Hero Indian Super League. He makes a move from GNK Dinamo Zagreb (Dinamo Zagreb).
Leskovic has made more than 150 appearances in Croatia’s top division. The 30-year old commenced his football journey with NK Osijek and played 35 matches for the club.
Subsequently, he went on to join hands with HNK Rijeka on a four-year contract. The Croatian defender was instrumental in the success of the team as they qualified for the group stage of the UEFA Europa League.
“Leskovic is a high-level defender who has come to Kerala Blasters with high motivation to perform well. I’m happy that we finalized this deal and finished recruitment for the upcoming season. I wish Marko all the best this season,” says Karolis Skinkys, Sporting Director KBFC.
“I’m happy to be coming to Kerala Blasters. We have a lot of challenges ahead of us but my intention and motivation to come to this great club is clear – I can’t wait to start winning together,” says Leskovic.
On the other hand, Leskovic made his senior debut for Croatia against Argentina in 2014 and played his last international match against Estonia. The 30-year old is the sixth and final overseas signing for Kerala Blasters.
Meanwhile, Kerala Blasters had a disappointing run in the previous season as they could only win three out of the 20 matches and finished at 10th place. Thus, they will look to turn the tables in the upcoming season.
