Cheteshwar Pujara reveals advice to young Indian batters for upcoming England series

India’s veteran batter Cheteshwar Pujara believes the upcoming five-match Test series against England will be a challenge for the young Indian batters. Pujara advised the batters to show patience in tough English conditions and adapt as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, it is known that playing in England is always challenging as there is enough help for the bowlers, who can trouble the batters with swing and seam.

India will be without the services of their veteran batters like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and the inexperienced batting line-up would look to grab their chances with both hands.

“India’s team to England must adapt quickly and play to the conditions. As someone who understands batting in English conditions and team dynamics, I believe discipline, patience, and support for each other are crucial,” said Pujara in a release by broadcasters Sony Sports Network.

“Every player will need to contribute and respect the challenges that lie ahead. I am sure this tour will be a great opportunity for the growth and success of each player and the team as a whole,” he said.

Pujara said the batters should not let the conditions get too much into their head and they should show composure.

“India’s new batting unit will be challenged in England because the English conditions generally assist swing and seam bowlers. They will need to be patient, display composure, and not overthink the conditions. A bit of resolve from them will help turn this tough tour into a significant stepping stone for their personal growth and India’s success abroad in the future.”

Former Indian batter and Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani said KL Rahul will need to guide the young batters whereas Jasprit Bumrah is going to hold the key with the ball.

“When the going gets tough, the tough get going. This is a real chance for the young brigade to rise to the occasion. UK conditions will be tough, but that’s where true character comes through.”

“K.L. Rahul, with his wealth of experience, will need to guide the youngsters and support skipper Shubman Gill, while Jasprit Bumrah’s leadership with the ball will be crucial.”

“Opportunities are plenty on this tour. One can either succumb to the pressure or rise to the occasion. It’s a great chance for the young brigade to make a mark and become future stars,” he remarked.

The opening Test match between India and England will be played at Leeds, Headingley, from June 20 onwards.
