Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has revealed that his goal is to keep himself fit for the 2023 ODI World Cup. Dhawan, who now only plays in the 50-over version of the game, wants to keep himself in a good state of mind.
Dhawan has all the experience under his belt and he will lead India in the three-match ODI series against South Africa. The southpaw has an impeccable record in the ICC major events and he will look to continue the same.
Dhawan has scored 6647 runs in 158 matches at an average of 45.84 and a strike rate of 92.08 in the ODI format.
“I feel very blessed I had a beautiful career. I am really grateful. Whenever possible I pass on my knowledge to youngsters. Now there is new responsibility on me but I see opportunity in challenges and I enjoy it,” said the left-hander.
“My goal currently is the 2023 World Cup. I just want to keep myself fit and be in a good state of mind to be in the fray.”
Dhawan, 36, is still at the top of his fitness and he will look to continue the good show in the upcoming matches.
India will look to get off to a good start against South Africa and Dhawan will look to get the best out of the players in the three-match ODI series.
The first ODI will begin at 2:00 PM IST in Lucknow.
