IND vs WI 2022: Mohammed Siraj gives 100% every single time – Sunil Gavaskar

Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar has heaped praise on Mohammed Siraj for giving 100% every single time he bowls.

Siraj is well known to give his best when he gets the ball in his hand. The fast bowler from Hyderabad runs in with energy and always tries to deliver the goods.

Siraj has taken giant strides in the recent past and he has definitely grown in confidence. The fast bowler returned with impressive figures of 1-26 in his eight overs against West Indies in the first ODI at Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. Siraj had bowled a top spell in the powerplay overs as he returned with 5-2-13-1.

“He was very good. And he keeps on improving. He has always been a whole-hearted bowler. You see the first ball that he bowls and the last ball that he bowls at the end of the day, he is running in with the same energy. That is what every captain is looking for. Somebody who is going to give 100 per cent every single time,” Sunil Gavaskar said on Star Sports.

Meanwhile, Siraj was taken for two boundaries by Shai Hope as he tried to take the ball away from the right-hander in the first ODI against the Windies. However, Siraj bounced back stronger as he bowled a cross-seamed ball and the right-hander chopped it on to his stumps. The Little Master added that Siraj is a thinking bowler.

“You can see that…the first two boundaries that were hit of him were deliveries where he was trying to move away. He had two slips in position so the thinking was good…if the ball was bouncing a little more the catch would go to the second slip. Then he bowled the scrambled seam delivery and got the batsman out. He is a thinking bowler,” he added.

Siraj has definitely impressed with his skills since making his Test debut against Australia at the MCG. The 27-year old had scalped 13 wickets against the Aussies in three Test matches and had played a key role in memorable series win in 2020-21.

Siraj will look to continue his good form and he is definitely ticking the right boxes. The second ODI between West Indies and India will be played at the same venue of Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
