IPL 2025: Shubman Gill credits bowlers after win against Sunrisers Hyderabad

Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill gave credit to his bowlers after they registered a seven-wicket win against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Sunday. GT were able to restrict SRH to a sub-par score of 152-8 on a tricky pitch, which assisted the seamers.

Gujarat Titans’ pack leader Mohammed Siraj got early wickets of dangerous SRH openers – Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma – in the Powerplay. Towards the end, Siraj plumbed Aniket Verma with a perfect yorker and then also accounted for Simarjeet Singh. 

Siraj returned with impressive figures of 4-17 in his quota of four overs, which is best bowling returns in the IPL. Furthermore, Sai Kishore and Prasidh Krishna bagged two wickets apiece and bowled economical spells.

Shubman Gill said in the post-match presentation, “Bowlers are game-changers especially in this format, lot of people talk about big-hitters but bowlers win you games. The energy Siraj brings during bowling and fielding is infectious.”

Meanwhile, Washington Sundar batted at number four and he was able to grab his opportunity with both hands, scoring 49 runs off 29 balls. Sundar added 90 runs with Shubman Gill, who scored an unbeaten 61 in the run-chase.

Speaking on his partnership with Sundar, Gill added, “We wanted to play shots all along the ground, that was the chat between me and Washington Sundar. He (Sundar) was padded up in the match against MI but with the Impact player rule, you have to change your plans at times. The way he batted today was fantastic. There was no conversation as such, it was all about playing good cricketing shots and once we had a 30-40 run partnership, it was taking the game from there.”

Gujarat Titans have won three matches on the trot and would look to carry the winning impetus. GT will next take on Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
