India’s gun fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah last played a T20I match against South Africa in the 2024 T20 World Cup final. Bumrah will make a comeback to T20Is after a more than year long gap and he would look to hit the ground running.
Bumrah came under the scrutiny after he played only three out of the five Test matches against England. However, the ace pacer said he has been able to rest properly during the three-week break.
Bumrah is going to hold the key in the continental tournament and he would look to be at the top of his fitness.
“It feels really good to join the T20 group after a long time. This three-week window was really good, got some time at home,” Jasprit Bumrah said in a BCCI video.
On the other hand, Bumrah’s pace partner Arshdeep Singh said they will have full intensity for the opening match of the tournament.
“It is a lively environment. Laughter and banter going around and it’s day one so we will get into it. By the time we play the first match we will have full intensity,” he said.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav will look to lead from the front and said it is always great to play with highly-skilled players.
“To have such a brilliant bunch around with unbelievable skill sets, I always have a smile on my face when I see those boys on the ground,” Suryakumar Yadav said.
