Former Indian batter Mohammad Kaif reckons Kuldeep Yadav will be skipper Rohit Sharma’s go-to man in the upcoming ODI World Cup. Yadav has been in tremendous form in the recent past and he is going to hold the key for India in the ODI showpiece.
Kuldeep Yadav was at his absolute best in the five-match T20I series against the West Indies. Yadav scalped six wickets in four matches at an average of 15.33 and an economy rate of 5.75, the best in the series for any bowler.
Yadav dismissed in-form Nicholas Pooran in the third and the fourth T20I and thus played a key role in the team’s win. Ergo, he will look to continue the good show in the ODI format.
The left-arm wrist spinner has scalped 141 wickets in 84 ODI matches at an impressive average of 26.55.
“Kuldeep Yadav will be Rohit’s go-to man. One of the things I’m excited about at this Asia Cup and World Cup is to watch in form Kuldeep Yadav in the middle overs. A wicket-taker with flight and turn against batsmen looking for runs is always a great contest,” Kaif wrote on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav will have the company of Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja in the spin department for the upcoming Asia Cup. The spin trio will hold the key in the Asia Cup in the middle overs.
India will begin their Asia Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele on September 2.
