Priyansh Arya Sets IPL Ablaze with Record-Breaking Century Against CSK

Punjab Kings’ newest batting sensation, Priyansh Arya, stormed into the IPL record books with a scintillating 39-ball century against Chennai Super Kings in Mullanpur, marking the fastest IPL hundred by an uncapped Indian player. In just the fourth match of his IPL career, the 24-year-old announced himself in emphatic fashion, smashing boundaries with an authority that stunned both fans and opponents.

Opening the innings, Arya wasted no time. He launched the first ball of the match for a six off CSK pacer Khaleel Ahmed and didn’t look back. His half-century came off just 19 deliveries, and he maintained the momentum, racing to his maiden IPL hundred in 39 balls—breaking the previous uncapped player record held by Rajat Patidar (49 balls in 2022).

Arya’s innings is now tied for the fifth-fastest in IPL history and is the quickest ever scored against Chennai Super Kings. His 103 is not only a personal milestone but also a defining moment for Punjab Kings in the 2025 season.

Punjab Kings’ assistant coach Brad Haddin reflected on Arya’s instant impact at the franchise: “At the nets, we saw 8 balls of Priyansh Arya and we coaches looked at each other and said ‘he’s got to play the 1st game’. I think he hit like 4 or 5 sixes in those 8 balls. And we were like, this is different.”

Captain Shreyas Iyer’s decision to bat first proved to be a masterstroke, as Arya’s fireworks helped PBKS post a formidable total. It was yet another chapter in Arya’s rise, following standout domestic performances in 2024 that included a six-sixes-in-an-over feat in the Delhi Premier League and a stellar Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign.

Before the IPL, Arya had built an impressive T20 résumé:

– Matches: 18

– Runs: 570

– Average: Over 30

– Strike Rate: 166.56

– 100s/50s: 1/3

He was picked by Punjab Kings for INR 3.8 crore in the 2025 auction, and his immediate returns have justified the investment. Arya had already given fans a glimpse of his power with a rapid 47 against Gujarat Titans in the season opener, but his century against CSK has truly elevated him to national attention.

Arya’s record-breaking knock not only redefines what uncapped talent can achieve in the IPL but also signals the arrival of a fearless new generation in Indian cricket. As the tournament progresses, all eyes will be on the young Delhi batter to see what magic he conjures next.
