India’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate gave an update on Arshdeep Singh after the fast bowler received a blow to his hand, during the team’s recent practice session in Beckenham. Singh suffered a cut to his hand while trying to stop the ball on his own bowling and Doeschate revealed the medical team needs to evaluate the magnitude of injury.
The left-arm pacer received his maiden Test call-up in the squad for the England tour. However, he didn’t get his chances in the first three matches of the five-match series as India has backed Akash Deep and Prasidh Krishna as the third-choice seamer.
Ten Doeschate said in the press conference, “Yeah, he took a ball while he was bowling there. He tried to stop it, and it’s just a cut, so we’ll have to see how bad the cut is. The medical team has taken him to see a doctor. If he needs stitches or doesn’t need stitches, it’s going to be important for our planning for the next few days.”
On the other hand, former Dutch batter showered praise on Mohammed Siraj for giving his 120% on the field. Siraj is currently the leading wicket-taker of the series with 13 scalps in three Test matches.
“I think we take for granted how lucky we are to have someone like that. I know it doesn’t always have the returns that you expect from a fast bowler, but in terms of heart, he is like a lion, and what he brings to his bowling attack whenever he does have the ball in hand, you always feel like something is going to happen.
Siraj is known to give his all in every spell he bowls and he was gutted when he got out to Shoaib Bashir at Lord’s.
