The defending champions England will lock horns against Oman in the 28th match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua on Thursday. England is on the verge of elimination and it is a must-win contest for the Jos Buttler-led team.
England lost their previous match against arch-rivals Australia by 36 runs after their opening match of the tournament against Scotland ended in a no result due to rain.
England bowlers conceded 201 against the Aussies and they will need to come up with a better performance. Furthermore, they could only score 165 in their 20 overs as the middle order failed to deliver despite a good start from the openers.
England will also need to win by a big margin against Oman to boost their Net Run Rate, which is currently -1.800.
On the other hand, Oman has lost all of their three matches and they have been knocked out of the tournament. Oman suffered a seven-wicket loss against Scotland in the last game as the opposition was able to chase down 151 with 41 balls to spare. Ergo, Oman will want to come up with a better bowling show against the Three Lions in their last game of the competition.
Match Prediction: England will definitely enter the contest as favorites against depleted Oman.
