Royal Challengers Bengaluru veteran Virat Kohli was on cloud nine after the franchise defeated Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final by six runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on Tuesday. In the last 18 years, Kohli has given his sweat and blood to RCB and finally, he was able to lift the IPL title after a long wait.
Before finally tasting victory, Kohli had suffered heartbreak in three IPL finals in 2009, 2011, and 2016. The veteran said he received a lot of love from the Bengaluru fans and always wanted to win the IPL title with RCB.
Virat Kohli said after the win while talking to Matthew Hayden, “There is lot that is spoken about me already, this win is for Bangalore and for each and everyone of the player and the families and the management as well. This moment is right up there with the best moments I have had in my career.”
Kohli scored a crucial knock of 43 runs off 35 balls to help RCB post 190 runs on the board after they were put into bat by Shreyas Iyer.
Kohli added in his interview, “Well, it’s right up there, if I have to be honest. As I said, I’ve given everything that I had for the last 18 years. I’ve stayed loyal to this team, no matter what. I’ve had moments where I thought otherwise, but I stuck to this team. I stood behind them, they stood behind me. And I always dreamt of winning it with them. And this is far more special than winning it with anyone else because my heart is with Bangalore, my soul is with Bangalore. And as I said, this is the team I’m going to play for till the last day that I play the IPL.”
Kohli has been a consistent performer for RCB over the years and deserves this win. The talismanic batter was seen in tears after RCB won their maiden title in the tournament.
