Indian captain Rohit Sharma said they will look to focus on their skill in the Super 8 stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. India qualified for the Super 8 stage after registering wins against Ireland, Pakistan and the USA whereas the match against Canada was abandoned due to rain.
Meanwhile, Indian bowlers have been right on the money in the ongoing T20I showpiece whereas the batters haven’t been at their best. Jasprit Bumrah bagged 2-6 against Ireland whereas he registered figures of 3-14 against Pakistan.
Furthermore, Arshdeep Singh picked 4-9 against the USA and played a key role in restricting the opposition to 110.
India are clubbed with Afghanistan, Australia and Bangladesh in Group 1 of the Super 8 stage.
“There is real keen-ness in the group to go and do something special. It clearly shows that everyone wants to make a difference and we take our skill sessions quite seriously. There is something to achieve in every skill session that you do. Once we play the first game, we are going to play the next two in 3-4 days. It is going to be a little hectic but we are used to all of this. We travel and play a lot so that is not going to be an excuse,” Rohit said in a video posted by BCCI.
Rohit added his players have all the experience under their belt and understands their respective role for the team.
“We will look to focus on our skill and what we need to do as a team. We have played a lot of games here. Everyone understands what they need to do. Everyone is looking forward and are excited at the same time,” the right-hand opener added.
