Quess Corp which is the club’s recent sponsor revoked its contract with the club after the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic became glaring stating that staff and players won’t be paid for may.

However, the club is in discussion with potential investors with a view to make the transition into the India Super League seamless after traditional rivals Mohun Bagan also made the jump.

Similarly, Bikash Jairu, who joins the team from Jamshedpur, is making a return to the clubside after initial stint in 2015 to 2017 while Cavin Lobo joined Minerva Punjab on loan from Atletico De Kolkota.

East Bengal have signed up nothing less than four players already as they continue to rebuild the team with Balwant Singh, Shankar Roy, novin gurung and Omid singh some of the players they have recruited.

The red-and-gold had a Topsy turvy 2019-20 I-League season and eventually finished second behind Mohun Bagan who won the league with four matches left.
