Chennaiyin FC has signed the services of winger Prasanth K on a one-year deal ahead of the ninth edition of the Hero Indian Super League 2022-23. Prasanth makes a move to the Marina Machans after spending five years at Kerala Blasters.
Prasanth has played 76 matches in his professional career, scoring three goals and as many assists. The winger had made his professional debut for Chennai City FC in the I-league after he was sent out on loan by Kerala Blasters FC.
Talking about the club’s new signing, Chennaiyin FC co-owner Vita Dani said: “Prasanth is a great solution to boost our depth in attack ahead of the upcoming season. Having played in Chennai earlier, he should fit in perfectly.”
The 25-year-old from Kozhikode is delighted to join hands with Marina Machans ahead of the upcoming season.
“I’m delighted and overwhelmed to be a part of this club. I am here to give my 100% and raise the bar” Prasanth expressed his excitement about joining the club.
Prasanth K also has the experience of playing for India at the Under-17 and Under-20 level and had played for AIFF Elite Academy. He scored one goal and also provided one assist in the previous edition of the league while playing for Kerala Blasters FC.
On the other hand, Chennaiyin FC could not qualify for the semifinal stages in the previous season as they only managed five wins in their 20 league stage matches. Thus, they finished in eighth place in the points table and they will be determined to turn the tables in the next season.
Earlier in the season, the Marina Machans had signed players like Sourav Das, Jockson Dhas, and Lijo Francis. Chennaiyin FC will begin its campaign against ATK Mohun Bagan in Kolkata on October 10.
