Mohun Bagan Super Giant head coach Jose Molina was disappointed with his team’s performance after a 2-2 draw against Mumbai City FC at the Mumbai Football Arena, Mumbai in the ongoing Indian Super League on Saturday.
The Spaniard admitted that they were good in the first half when they scored two goals but they were not up to the mark in the last 45 minutes.
Jamie Maclaren scored the opener for the Mariners in the 32nd minute whereas Dimitri Petratos scored the second goal for the visitors in the 41st minute.
But Jon Toral got one back for the Islanders in the 57th minute and the home team was reduced to 10 men after Vikram Partap Singh was sent off after receiving a second yellow card in the 58th minute. Nathan Rodrigues then scored the equalizer for the home team in the 87th minute.
“We did a great first 45 minutes, really good. The beginning of the second half was not so good, but good enough. But, after the sending off (for Vikram Singh), being one more player on the pitch, we were not that good; we were not Mohun Bagan SG,” Molina said during the post-match press conference.
The gaffer wants his players to keep backing their plans which have worked for them in the ongoing season and not veer off the track at this crucial phase of the tournament.
“We had created something so far during this season, a team spirit, a way to play. Then, when we have one more player, we start to do things differently. Not the things we were doing until now, which put us on the top of the table and with the Shield. So if we start to do different things, we can see what could happen,” he stated.
“For me, it is easy. We have to play in the way we work every day, in the way we are playing every match, and not try to do different things,” he added.
Mohun Bagan Super Giant will next take on FC Goa at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, Kolkata on Saturday.
