PVL 2022: The long gap has given us time to rectify mistakes, says Kochi Blue Spikers’ Erin Varghese

Kochi Blue Spikers’ Erin Varghese reckons the long gap between the matches has given them the chance to rectify their mistakes.

Kochi played their last match on 8th February against Bengaluru Torpedoes but lost by 3-2 at the Gachibowli Stadium, Hyderabad.

Furthermore, they had lost their opening match of the season against Hyderabad Black Hawks by 4-1 on 5th February. Thus, Kochi Blue Spikers have lost both of their matches and they will be looking to register their first win of the season against Chennai Blitz on Wednesday.

Kochi’s Erin Varghese said, “The long gap has helped us a lot since we had to rectify a lot of mistakes that we made in our first two matches. We’ve had enough time to work on many aspects of our game and we are prepared for the next match. The Chennai Blitz have lost three matches, so they will certainly come out all guns blazing against us and we are prepared for that.”

On the other hand, Chennai Blitz is in the same boat as their opponents Kochi Blue Spikers as they are also yet to register their opening win of PVL 2022 despite playing three matches. Chennai is at the bottom of the points table.

Chennai skipper Mohan Ukkrapandian said, “We are preparing really well for our next match. We were disappointed after going down in our last three matches, but we still have hope that we will put up a better performance in our next match. We are practicing very well and we are ready to face the Kochi Blue Spikers. We’ll play according to our plans and look to make a good start against Kochi.”

Mohan Ukkrapandian added that the team will look to improve their serve against Kochi Blue Spikers. He added, “We need to improve our serving in the upcoming matches. We have seen that the other teams are putting pressure on their opponents by serving well. We have lacked in the service department so far. However, I think we’ll get better at serving in the upcoming games.”

Kochi Blue Spikers will lock horns against Chennai Blitz on Wednesday at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad.
