There is no doubt that Novak Djokovic is one of the greatest Tennis players to have embraced the game. However, a lot of Tennis experts don’t put Djokovic in the same category as Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer because of his on-court behaviour.
Djokovic has also been involved in a lot of controversies, which doesn’t give him a place in the pantheons of Tennis world, along with Nadal and Federer. In fact, it has also been noticed that the crowd is always against Djokovic and he sometimes doesn’t get the respect he deserves if we talk about what he has achieved so far in his impressive career.
Djokovic once again could not keep his emotions in check in the Bronze medal match against Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta. First the Serbian threw his racquet away in the stands, but thankfully for him nobody was sitting there. Subsequently, he smashed his racquet into the side net when he lost a game against the Spaniard in the final set, for which he also received a warning.
Nadal, who shares a great rivalry with Djokovic, added that it doesn’t set up a right example for the kids who want to play the sport. The Spaniard stated that Djokovic’s meltdowns are becoming regular and he is repeating the same mistakes.
In fact, Djokovic had apologised for his on-court behaviour after losing the match against Busta.
Djokovic had said, “I am sorry for sending this kind of message.”
Asked about the incident ahead of the Citi Open, Rafael Nadal said: “Luckily there were no people in the stands and nothing else happened, but hey, they are things that happen from time to time.
“You have to try to avoid them. The image is not the best. “It is important to avoid this, especially as a role model for many children. He is the number one in the world and one of the best in history.
“It’s strange that someone so successful reacts this way from time to time, but in the end he’s very competitive and reacts like that.”
